SiliBake Pastry Mat Makes Baking Easier (+ $50 Visa Gift Card Giveaway)

May 6, 2015 by hewella1 79 Comments

Disclosure: “I received product for review purposes only. All opinions are my own.”

I like to bake but I just hate the clean up that comes after you get to enjoy those yummy treats we make. Not to mention having to always have parchment paper on hand so your cookies and other goodies don’t get stuck to the pans. I found a great solution with the SiliBake Pastry Mat. This thing is so cool! I think anyone who loves to bake will really enjoy this.

I used this mat when visiting my Mom. She was so nice enough to make my favorite breakfast, sausage balls! These things are so good and very addictive! We used the SiliBake pastry mat to bake the sausage balls. She was a little bit skeptical and thought they would be ruined. She was pleasantly surprised to see that they came out perfectly and even the bottoms got brown and crispy just like we like them. She also said that the sausage balls weren’t as greasy because all of the grease had stayed on the mat as you can see in the picture below.

Is Gardening Worth it Financially?

April 17, 2015 by hewella1 2 Comments

Is gardening worth it financially? This is a question that has been in my home for the past couple of years now. The answer will vary from person to person but my answer is YES!

I truly believe that growing my own fruits and vegetables is not only worth my time and money financially but also physically and emotionally.

If you are a beginner gardener, you may be wondering if you can save money with a garden and if it is worth it to start one in your backyard. Use these tips to find the right plants and vegetables to make it worth your time and effort even if you are on a budget.

I have been growing my own vegetable garden in my backyard for a couple of years now. It is not very big but it provides my family with fresh produce throughout the growing season and even through the winter because I freeze everything that we don’t eat right away. [Read more…]

Yummy & Healthy Toddler Food from Earth’s Best Organic #Giveaway

April 16, 2015 by hewella1 21 Comments

Disclosure: “I received products from Earth’s Best to facilitate my review. All opinions are my own.”

When you have a toddler, meal time can be a bit tricky. Sometimes my daughter has a big appetite, other times she will only take a few bites. I have been pretty lucky with my little girl. She is a good eater and isn’t too picky. She tries whatever I give her but sometimes I don’t think she eats enough at meal time. That is why when she does eat, I want it to be healthy and nutritious so she gets the vitamins and minerals she needs to grow healthy and strong. Earth’s Best sent me some of their new products to try that are made for toddlers. I thought they only made baby products, but I was wrong. They have a lot of options for parents of toddlers who still want to feed their little ones the best.

All Natural Fruit and Vegetable Wash

April 13, 2015 by hewella1 Leave a Comment

all natural fruit and vegetable wash

It’s that time of year! It’s time for fresh fruits and vegetables!! There is nothing better then biting into a fresh piece of fruit and enjoying the spring weather. I have been noticing a lot of sales that are going on in the produce section of the grocery stores. Most of the great prices are on the non-organic products instead of the organic, go figure. It can be expensive to eat all organic even though we know it is better for us. I try my best to follow the “Dirty Dozen” list of fruits and veggies to eat organic so I can save some money. But that doesn’t always work out. You can check out my post on How to Eat Healthy on a Budget  and part 2 for more tips.

I have discovered an all natural fruit and vegetable wash recipe courtesy of the Dr. Oz website and I have been using it on all of my produce. This is a great option if you can’t afford to eat all organic. This wash consists of things that you probably already have in your pantry so it is very cost effective and a much better alternative to buying fruit and vegetable washes from the stores. This particular wash works to break down and wash off the pesticides. [Read more…]
