4 Easy Ways to Get Free Groceries!

March 31, 2021 by hewella1

I know that everyone is on a tight budget these days and I wanted to make things a little bit simpler if you are looking to save money on your grocery bill. These are my favorite easy ways so get free groceries just by using my phone. No coupon clipping required.

Use these four ways to get free groceries every week. Tips and tricks to help you stay on budget and save money.

Post contains affiliate links. If you make a purchase, I will earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

I love using coupons to save money but I know that not everyone wants to take the time to get into that. If you do, you can read my tips for how to coupon when you are short on time.

4 Easy Ways to Get Free Groceries

The first three ways I wanted to share only include using your smartphone. The fourth is a little bit more detailed but not difficult at all! I don’t want you to think that you will be getting your entire grocery cart for free but by getting a few grocery items for free every week, that money can really add up .

You can then use the money you saved on those items to get more fresh produce or meat that you may need for your family.

This is also a great way to try new products that are on the market without having to worry about wasting money. If you don’t like the product, you got the money back for it already!

Ibotta App

I love using the Ibotta app. I have saved over $1,000 since I started using it. It is free to use and a great way to get free groceries. I will usually score a freebie every week.

To find the free grocery offers, open your Ibotta app. Then choose the store where you want to shop. Then click on Best Value at the top of the screen. This will take you to the high value offers. These are mostly BOGO offers or completely free offers.

You simply add the offer that you would like to your account by hitting the little plus sign and then upload your reciept once you have made your purchase in store. The full amount will be added to your Ibotta account and once you hit $20, you can cash out via Paypal or for a gift card.

I find that Walmart and Target usually have a good amount of free offers on the Ibotta App. Last Thanksgiving, Walmart had so many free offers that you could have gotten a Thanksgiving meal for free after cash back!

On all of these offers, make sure to read the fine print so you can see the size and variety that is required as well as when the offer expires. Sometimes you can even do the deal more than once!

Fetch Rewards App

The Fetch App is another easy way to get free groceries. They are very similar to Ibotta and free to use. You just upload a picture of your receipt and you will get the amount for the offer put into your Fetch account. They will usually have one or two different offers for 100% of the points for that product.

What I love about Fetch’s free offers is that you can usually do them at least twice per receipt. One time I was able to get 5 free ice cream bar boxes (they were $5.99 each) on one receipt!! Always remember to read the fine print to see how many times you can do the offer.

Grocery Store Rewards App

Another super easy way to score free groceries is to download your grocery store’s app. If you have an account or a rewards account with them, you can then go in and add coupon offers directly to your rewards number or phone number, whichever one they use.

I use my local Harris Teeter and Publix app for this all the time. Most of them are just for regular money off coupon offers, which is great if you don’t want to physically cut out coupons. Once or twice a month, I find that they will have completely free offers as well.

A lot of the time it is for new products. It might be for a yogurt, a soda, boxed meal, etc. Make sure to check your account every week and add the offer to your account. It will then be automatically deducted at checkout!

They will usually give you a freebie on your birthday, too!

Another Option for Getting Free Groceries

My last way to get free groceries is a little more involved but still very easy to do and doesn’t take a lot of time.

You can match the app offers with the digital/physical coupons and sales to score some very cheap and even free groceries.

For example, if Crest toothpaste is on sale for $4.99. I might have a digital coupon for $2.00 and there may be an Ibotta offer for $3.00. I will only pay $2.99 for the toothpaste at checkout and get $3.00 in my Ibotta account when I upload my receipt. That makes the toothpaste free after cash back!

By mixing and matching the app offers with sale prices and coupons, you can really help lower your grocery budget. It’s how I saved over $500 on groceries without physically clipping coupons.

I make it easier on myself by following deal sites like Hip2Save or Krazy Coupon Lady. They will show you the exact coupons to use with which app offer to score the freebies. They make deal lists for the most popular stores every week.

Even if you don’t want to spend a lot of time couponing, you can use these 4 easy ways to get free groceries to help stretch your grocery budget and find new products that you may love.
