Research shows that people who adopt activities into their lifestyle so they can be healthy are much more likely to stick with it and be more successful than people who just want to be fit to change their appearance.
You can get fit without even trying just by making a few changes that really add up. Once you have these incorporated into your life, you can increase intensity or the length of your workouts to take yourself to the next level.
How to Get Fit Without Even Trying
Take the Long Way Around: One of the easiest things you can do to get fit is just to move more. Take the stairs, park in the farthest parking spot. Instead of sitting while your child is at soccer practice, take a walk around the field.
After a couple of weeks, it will become second nature to take the long way around.
Do Short Workouts: It is important to workout everyday but life can get in the way. Some days you just won’t have the time to do a full workout.
I like using Beachbody on Demand because I can do a workout in my home when I have the time. For those days when I can’t do a full workout, I like doing a 10 Minute Trainer workout so that I am active everyday and don’t feel like I failed because I didn’t stick to it.
Do Something you Love: The easiest way to be an active person is to find an activity that you love doing and doesn’t feel like a “workout”. This could be swimming, running, hiking, riding a bike, dancing, playing a team sport, etc.

More Get Fit Tips
Cut out the Sugary Drinks: I admit it, I am a Coke addict. I love drinking soda but I know how bad it is for me. I am trying to cut out sugary drinks and just drink water.
I can’t quit cold turkey though. I have cut back to one soda a day and eventually it will be one soda every other day, so on and so on. By cutting back a little bit at a time, I am more likely to cut it completely out of my diet.
I like replacing it with flavored water or a yummy smoothie.
Make Healthy Food Convenient: I like taking one day a week to prep my food. Take your vegetables and chop or dice them. Wash and cut up fruit. Cook any protein or beans.
That way you have healthy meals and snacks right at your fingertips. The reason we grab a bag of chips or chocolate is because it is convenient. Make healthy food just as convenient so you will actually eat it during your Netflix binge or make a quick and healthy lunch.
Take Plenty of Snacks to Work: I fell victim to the vending machine once to often when I worked an office job. I would always grab something unhealthy because it was convenient.
Keep a bag of fruit, nuts, or even some yogurt in the fridge for when those cravings hit at work.
Get Healthy Foods Delivered to your Door: I like ordering healthy snacks from places like Amazon or Thrive Market. They have great prices on a huge variety of options so you won’t get bored eating the same old thing all the time.
Variety will keep you sticking to a new healthy change in your diet and the convenience will make it more feasible.
Figure out Why You are Eating: Emotional triggers can pose a huge obstacle to weight loss. Start taking a moment to figure out why you want to eat. Are you truly hungry or is it something else?
If it is not just hunger, figure out something else to do. If you are anxious sip some hot tea, if you are sad watch a comedy or call a friend, the key is to find something else to keep you occupied besides eating.
Meditate: Getting a good night’s sleep is important for an overall healthy lifestyle. Take 5-10 minutes before bed and try to clear your mind.
By sitting in the quiet, turning off electronics, and taking a moment for yourself you are more likely to fall asleep faster and sleep more soundly. It’s just good for your mental health.
