Since my daughter started preschool this year, I have learned how important after school traditions are. They let her associate school with something fun and it allows us to spend more quality time together.
My daughter has anxiety so it was important for me to get her to think of fun and happy things when she knows that she is going to school.
By making these fun after school traditions with her, it has made the transition to preschool so much easier on all of us. I wanted to share some of the things that we do so that you can use them as inspiration to make your own after school traditions with your little ones.
One of the things that we like to do is to head to the playground on our way home from school. She always has some energy to spend so I am so thankful that there is a playground in our neighborhood.
We will usually stop by and play on the swings, bring a jump rope, or just chase each other around. She loves being able to play and I love getting to spend some time together after a few hours apart.
Plus, this will usually wear her out so that she is ready for a good nap when we finally get home!
Another thing that she looks forward to when I pick her up from school is that I will usually have a “surprise” for her. This is usually a little treat that I bring for her to snack on in the car on the drive home.
I try to give her healthy lunches with plenty of fruit and veggies so when it comes to snack time, I will let her choose something sweet.
She likes to have a little doughnut or cookie but her favorite treat lately has been the TEDDY SOFT BAKED Filled Snacks.
We saw these in the cookie/cracker aisle on our latest venture to Walmart. She loves the Teddy Grahams so when she saw these, she was begging to try them.
TEDDY SOFT BAKED Filled Snacks come in two different flavors: chocolate with vanilla filling or vanilla with chocolate filling. My daughter’s favorite was the chocolate filling!
I like that they are made with quality ingredients like milk, eggs, and chocolate without any high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors or colors.
Plus, they are super cute with their teddy bear shape. My daughter likes to start eating the ears first!
I love that they are easy and convenient to keep in my purse so I can just hand her the treat after I strap her into the car seat and she won’t make a huge mess.
These are the perfect snack for when your little one is hungry.
I know how much you guys like entering sweepstakes so I wanted to let you know about the sweeps that you can enter below.
Until Sept. 29th, you can enter to win one of 12 prizes ($50 Walmart gift card each) and two grand prizes ($200 Walmart gift card each).
I-C will randomly select 14 winners from all program entries and will facilitate fulfillment of the winning prizes.
One other fun thing that we like to do is head to our local aquarium after a day at school. It actually is just a short drive from her preschool and it is a fun little way for her to end the day.
We bought an annual pass so we can go as many times as we want. If you have a museum, zoo, or aquarium near you, you may want to look into doing this.
It’s a great way to send time together while still letting them learn about the world around them.
These are just a few of the after school traditions that we enjoy together. I have to take advantage of it when she is this age. I know she won’t want to hang out with Mom as much when she gets older.
What are some after school traditions that you share with your little ones?
