I am a big fan of double duty makeup brushes. Not only do they take up less space in your makeup drawer or on your bathroom counter but they save you money! Plus, who doesn’t love getting the most out of a product?

If you aren’t a makeup artist that makes a living off of your beauty skills, you probably don’t need dozens of makeup brushes in your cosmetics drawer.
I am guilty of this! I have a full set of makeup brushes but I always end up going back to the same 4 or 5 brushes every single day.
Unless, you want to spend $20 on a brand name makeup brush like MAC, you really don’t need to. I have found some affordable makeup brushes that have really lasted and give a great finished look.
I try to only give you a list of products that are within most people’s budget but also work!
Here are my top picks for the double duty makeup brushes to add to your beauty collection.
The Best Double Duty Makeup Brushes
Fluffy Blush Brush
Look for a fluffy blush brush that has domed bristles to help blend powder or cream blush so it goes on soft and more natural-looking. Some other uses for your blush brush:
- Applying highlighter to cheeks and down your nose
- Applying bronzer to your neck for a hint of color
I really like the BH Cosmetics Deluxe Blush Brush.

Blending Brush
Look for a blending brush with a tapered head and long bristles. This brush is great for blending eye shadow into the creases of lids but you can also use it for:
- Applying powder on concealer to set your makeup
- Applying color corrector to problem areas
- Soften edges of blush or bronzer
- Applying powder on top of lipstick to create a matte look
I use the Elf Blending Brush…it’s only $3!
More Makeup Brushes that Have Multiple Uses
Small Eyeshadow Brush
This brush has an oval shape that allows for a more even and smoother application of shadow to your lids than a flat shadow brush would.
This brush works well with cream and powder shadows so you don’t have to keep switching out shadow brushes when you change the formula.
- Graze over eyeliner to create a smokey look.
- Can be used to apply concealer under the eyes.
- Apply highlighter above the cheek bone for a dewy look.
I really like the Real Techniques Enhanced Crease Brush that you can find in the Real Techniques Enhanced Eye Set.
Powder Brush
Look for a dense powder brush where the bristles aren’t too fluffy. This makes it easier to apply product directly where you want it. This is great for blending both powder and liquid foundations. You can also use it to:
- Apply bronzer to your cheeks, nose, jawline, and forehead.
- Apply setting powder over your foundation.
- Blend the edges of blush.
I use the Ecotools Blending and Bronzing Brush.
These are my four go to brushes for my everyday makeup. They are super affordable and give me a great blended and flawless look.
