I am at an age where I have seen A LOT of my friends get married. It is a time of joy and love but also a time of stress, especially for the bride. There are ways to have a stress-free wedding day so that you can actually enjoy your big day and not just have it pass you by in a flash.
I have personally been thinking about this because I am engaged and we are in the planning stages of our wedding. We have been together for 12 years and are just now getting around to the actual wedding.
We wanted to put the planning on hold for a while when I became pregnant so we wouldn’t have to deal with the stress of a wedding and a new baby at the same time. Being pregnant in the summer is stressful enough!
Now that the planning is back on, I have learned a lot of great tips from friends and just from my experience of being a bridesmaid that I wanted to share so that you won’t be so frazzled when the big day finally arrives.
Do Your Research
The biggest way that you can stay calm on your wedding day is knowing that you are working with professionals and that they are going to do their job.
When you are picking vendors for catering, florists, photographers, etc. make sure you do your research. Read all of the reviews that you can find on them and get references.
Once you pick the vendors you feel confident in, let them do their job! Try not to micromanage and it will help you relax throughout the entire planning process and especially on your actual wedding day.
Have an Informal Rehearsal Dinner
The planning for the actual ceremony can be overwhelming that you don’t want to get stressed over the rehearsal dinner as well.
Opt for a more informal rehearsal dinner and you will be able to relax and actually enjoy yourself the day before your wedding. Just have it at a restaurant where everything will be taken care of and all you have to do is make a reservation.
Even better, let the groom and his family handle all of the arrangements.
Make a Wedding Website
This is a must have for every engaged couple! It has saved me so much headache already. Creating a wedding website is incredibly easy and helps keep your guests informed on everything they need to know.
I created one for us using GoDaddy GoCentral website and it was so easy to set up that someone like me could set it up. I am not tech savvy at all!
This is what it looks like when you are creating it. You can easily change the theme, fonts, colors, and header to make it fit your wedding look and theme.
It has areas for you to share your engagement story, how you met, and anything special you want your guests to know. You can easily add links to your registry or a savings fund if you are opting for that instead of gifts. You can even put in all of the venue information so that they can easily pull it up on their phones on your wedding day.
I love that the website only took less than an hour to set up. It gives me more time to focus on my planning and less time worrying if guests have all of the information that they will need.
My favorite part about this is that you can collect all of your RSVPs on the site so they are all kept together for you. Also, the site can be updated whenever you want so if there are any last minute changes your guests need to know, simply update the website instead of having to call them one by one.
You can start creating yours on GoDaddy before you send out invitations and include the link on your invites so your guests can easily access it.
Pick a Wedding Day Contact
You have a maid of honor and bridesmaids for a reason, to help you on your wedding day! Pick someone that you trust to make decisions in case something goes wrong and needs to be fixed.
People can go to that person, not you, to get those problems fixed. You are supposed to enjoy your day, not fix everything.
I was at a wedding where people were calling the bride’s phone for directions to the venue! If that happens, hand the phone off to someone else and let them handle it.
The only thing you should be worrying about is getting ready and walking down the aisle, everything else can be taken care of by a close friend or family member.
Know that Things will go Wrong
We live in the real world, not on Pinterest. I know that everyone wants their wedding day to be flawless and be exactly like they dreamed but it usually doesn’t happen that way.
You can only control yourself and no one else. As long as you remember this and remember why you are getting married in the first place, you will be fine.
Your wedding day is to celebrate the love and future of you and your significant other.
I had a friend who was getting married and the photographer was late. She was awesome about it and wasn’t freaking out like a lot of brides would have been. She simply asked a few people if they would take photos with their phones if the photographer was a no show. She wasn’t going to let that ruin her wedding, she was determined to have a stress-free wedding day!
Luckily, the photographer showed up with 10 minutes to spare and all was fine, but my friend only cared about marrying the man she loved, not about getting the perfect photos.
I hope that you have a stress-free wedding day and it is a day filled with lots of love and laughter. Just keep these tips in mind and enjoy every second of it!
