I am so excited! I just finished doing 30 days of my first Beachbody workout program. I wanted to give a full Hip Hop Abs review so that you can see that it really does change your body. If you put in the work you will see results, just like I did!

If you remember reading my post on how I was saving money and losing weight, you will remember that I purchased the Beachbody on Demand membership. I bought the yearly membership when they were running a special in January but you can still get a free 30 day trial if you want to see what they offer.
I decided that the first workout program I was going to try was Shaun T’s Hip Hop Abs. It is a great beginner workout and it is a lot of fun. I enjoy dancing so I figured this was a good one to start out with.
The program offers a 30 day workout calendar that you can follow. If you want to stick with it for the full 60 days, you follow the same calendar, just with the level 2 workouts.
I will admit that I didn’t follow the nutrition plan that is included. I just am not very good at dieting. I eat in moderation and cut way back on my sodas so that did help. The main change I made was really sticking to this workout plan.
The workouts are really fun and are good for beginners like me. I have bad knees, one used to dislocate, so I can’t do a lot of high impact moves.
I loved that there were modifications for pretty much every move so you can still get in a good workout even if you can’t do some of the jumping.
I really love the music that they play during the workouts. It really gets you pumped and ready to dance. Shaun T’s personality is great! He had me laughing through a couple of the workouts!
You don’t have to have any workout equipment to do the workouts. I do recommend having some weighted gloves or some smaller hand weights so that you can really get the maximum results. I used the gloves and I could really feel the difference in my workouts. You may also want to get a yoga mat if you have hard floors.
The only problem I had with these workouts were the length. They can be pretty long. The average workout is 30-45 minutes so when you have to do 2 workouts a day, it can be over an hour of working out.
That can be tough to do when you are busy but the good thing is that not every day has two workouts. They even have quick 5-10 minute workouts that you can do if you are short on time.
Now on to the results. I was pleasantly surprised with my results, especially since it was after just 30 days. I will say that I started doing level two workouts at about day 15 on the calendar because the level one workouts were getting too easy for me.
Here are my measurements:
- Hips: Before- 39 in. After- 37 in.
- Waist: Before- 33 in. After- 28 in.
- Thighs: Before- 21 in. After- 22 in.
I was impressed with the before and after shots. Always take before pictures because then you can really tell where your body is changing.
I can’t believe that I lost 5 inches off my waist in just 30 days. That’s crazy! I notice definition in my abs as well as in my arms.
According to my measurements, I gained an inch in my thighs but I think that is just because I am starting to get more muscle there. They aren’t as jiggly as they used to be.
I’m not where I want to be yet but this is a great starting off point and it has given me the motivation I need to keep going!
I really liked Hip Hop Abs and I think you will, too. It is less than $20 for the full workout or you can sign up for Beachbody on Demand and get this and many other workouts to choose from.
I have chosen to move on from Hip Hop Abs because I get bored quickly with workout programs, which is why I chose to get Beachbody on Demand so I could have a nice variety.
I have just started doing the Piyo workout program so I will be doing a review on that in a couple of months and you can see my results. It is a mix of yoga and pilates and it is no joke!
I have done two workouts so far and my core and legs are so sore! I’m hoping to see some great results from that program.
Let us know what you think of Hip Hop Abs and if you tried it and saw some great results.
