Beautiful & Affordable DIY Wall Decor

March 23, 2017 by hewella1 1 Comment

I love giving my home a fresh look but it can get expensive. I like to do different DIY wall decor projects to help save on my home’s makeover. I put together a list of some clever and gorgeous DIY wall decor ideas to give you some inspiration on ways you can update your home.

Wouldn’t you rather spend that money on new furniture anyway?

Post contains affiliate links.

Some common supplies used in these projects are:

  • blank canvas
  • stencils
  • foam boards

If you aren’t much of a DIY person, you can also check out Etsy for some unique and affordable wall decor.

Name Art: This is actually from my daughter’s nursery. I love the block letters in children’s rooms. They are a great way to liven up a wall. She loves butterflies so I found some to stick on her wall to add some color. I think this cost us a total of $10.

Postcard Art: If you like to travel or just collecting postcards, make them into a beautiful postcard canvas collage. You can see the full tutorial on How About Orange.

Scarf Art: I like using items that you already have on hand. You can frame wallpaper, fabric pieces, and even scarves like they did on Honey Sweet Home.

Ribbon Art: I love the look of this piece. This idea comes from Homey Oh My and all she did was use some poster board and ribbon to create this beautiful piece of art. You could even do this with washi tape. I love all the different designs you could create with them.

Paper Art: This is so cute for a child’s room. You can do so many things with paper. There are 20 ideas on Homesthetics so you can get even more ideas.

Disc Wall Art: I think this is a really unique piece. For the Disc wall art, they used foam discs and painted them. You could also just cover them with your favorite fabric pieces as well.

Foam Art: Here is a version that they made with foam and fabric. I think it turned out great! It doesn’t look that difficult to put together. You can get the full tutorial here.

Vinyl Art: I love this idea and it is super simple to make. Just paint some blank canvas to match your decor and apply some vinyl decal directly to the canvas. This idea comes from Timminneci.com

Stencil Art: This is a very simple and beautiful DIY wall decor idea. Anyone can do it. All you need is canvas, stencils, and craft paint. Get the full tutorial here.

Distressed Wood Art: If you are a fan of the farmhouse look, you might like this distressed wood decor. All you need is some wood pieces, wood stain, and chalk paint. Find the full tutorial on These Northern Roots.

Rubber Door Mat Wall Art: Who knew a cheap door mat could turn into a unique wall piece? You can use the rectangular mats or the semi-circle shapes to create your own look. All you need is a rubber door mat and spray paint. See more at Salvage Dior.

Monogram Wall Art: I love how the owners of The Hamby Home took a monogrammed door hanger and turned it into a beautiful wall hanging for the bedroom. You can get your own monogram door wreath here.

Tote Bag Art: I love this idea from Hip2Save. They took some cheap plastic tote bags and wrapped them around some canvas to create a unique collage. I’m going to try and make this for my daughter’s room using Disney Princesses.

I hope these DIY wall decor ideas have given you some inspiration for decorating your room on a budget. Let us know of any awesome projects you have already done.
