I can’t tell you how many times I have said that I am going to get in shape and be healthier. I do good for a couple of weeks and then life gets crazy again and I stop. I have found some apps where you can actually get paid to workout.
Money is a big motivator for some people, myself included, so this may be something that will work for you if you are struggling to reach your fitness goals.
Post includes affiliate links. If you make a purchase, I will earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
I’m going to say this upfront, you probably won’t make a lot of money by signing up for these apps and services. You can make some money and it may be a good way to offset any gym membership fees.
This is more about using it as a motivator to get you to stick to your goals, because the last thing you want to do is lose money!
How to Get Paid to Workout
Healthy Wage
How it works: At Healthy Wage you can join a Team challenge or do a Healthy Wager. This seems to be the favorite way to get paid to workout.
The Team Challenge is a three-month weight loss challenge in which teams of five compete to win $18,000 in cash prizes (first prize is $10,000; second place is $5,000; third place is $3,000). The winning team is the one that loses the greatest percentage of weight during the contest.
For the Healthy Wager, you use their calculator to enter your goal and calculate your winnings. Increase your winnings by adjusting your goal weight, how much you contribute, and the time you expect it to take. Find a prize you like and make your wager.
You have weekly weigh-ins. If you meet your goal, you win the prize. If you don’t, you lose the money that you wagered.
Average Winnings: Varies. The top prize is $10,000 but it depends on how much you wager and how much you have to lose. If you win, you will be paid via Paypal.
Refunds: There are absolutely no cancellations or refunds. HealthyWage will suspend your challenge if you are pregnant.

AchieveMint
How it Works: AchieveMint is a free app that uses a points system where 1,000 pts. equals $1. You sync up your fitness apps like Fitbit, MyFitnessPal, MapMyRun, RunKeeper, and many more. You get points for working out, eating right, checking into the gym, sharing on social media, taking surveys, and making healthy decisions.
Average Winnings: Varies. Some say it has taken them a few months to earn $50 while others say it took them a year. You can cash out in $10 increments for cash or an Amazon gift card. There is no limit to how much you can earn.
Refunds: The app is free.
PACT
How it works: PACT is similar to HealthyWage in that you place bets that you will reach your fitness goals. If you don’t meet those goals, you lose the money that you bet.
There are three different pacts, you can choose one or all of them: Veggie, Gym, or Food Logging pact. Everything is verified by checking into the gym and by photos.
Average Winnings: You can make anywhere from $0.30 -$5 a week depending on how much you wager.
Refunds: You can find their policy here.
DietBet
How it works: If you like friendly competition and team events, you may prefer DietBet. You choose to lose either 4% of your body weight in 4 weeks, 10% in 6 weeks, or maintain your weight for 12 months. You’ll then bet your money into a pot with other players, and if you make your weight loss goal, you split the pot with the other winners.
Average Winnings: The average bet is $30 and most players make 1.5-2x that much when they win.
Refunds: Cancel up to 7 days from the game start and get a full refund.
They also have a No Lose Guarantee! This guarantee ensures that if you win your dietbet, you won’t lose money. Most winners make money but in the event that your game has an unusually high percentage of winners, we’ll forfeit our cut in order to ensure that nobody loses money. So the worst case scenario is that you’ll end up losing weight for free, which is still a big win.
There are a lot more apps similar to these but I found the best reviews on these four services. Hopefully one will work for you to help you start a fit and healthy lifestyle.
If you don’t want to risk losing any money, try Achievemint. But if you know that money is a big motivator to you, one of the others may be a great way to keep you on track.
