One of my goals for the next few months is to start working out again! It is hard finding the time to actually exercise and workout when you are a busy mom but I want to start making more time for myself and my health. I know how important it is!
This is a sponsored post on behalf of Premier Protein.
To help kick of this new goal for myself, I attended a free workout event here in Charlotte, NC. Gym memberships can be expensive so this was a great way to try some new exercises and workout with a group.
The class was held at Midwood Park and led by a local Charlotte fitness professional, Jen DeCurtins. She teaches at Y2 Yoga here in Charlotte as well. She was super nice and she really pushed us in the workout.
The class was full of people from beginners to experts and it was fun to cheer each other on. We did some cardio, strength, and of course, yoga! It was a full body workout and it reminded me just how out of shape I am! I’m not ashamed to admit that I was struggling through some of the moves.
But the point is that I actually did it and I made an effort to take better care of my body. I loved the fact that I met some great people and really enjoyed exercising outside on a beautiful day.
The event was sponsored by Premier Protein so there was a lot of their shakes, bars, and powders for us to take home and try out. They even had some great workout gear for all of us, too!
The best part about being able to participate in this event is that I also got to help out a local charity, Running Works. They are a non-profit running program founded to use sport to empower individuals and families to break cycles of abuse, neglect, poverty and homelessness.
For every participant who attended, Premier Protein will donate the value of one fitness class with Jen DeCurtins to the organization.
Not only did I get a great workout but I got to help others as well!
Keep an eye out for free events like this in your community. It’s a great way to get involved and give back.
