This post is brought to you by Walmart and Healthtex courtesy of The Motherhood. All opinions are my own.
As a mom to a spirited young child, I have learned that running errands used to be a pleasure that I now dread. I always keep several items with me at all times to make running errands with a toddler so much easier and more tolerable.
I stay at home with my daughter so if I need to go anywhere, she has to come with me. There is just no getting around it. She has actually started to look forward to going shopping with mommy and I think the fact that I always have a “survival kit” on hand makes it easier on both of us.
The first thing you are going to need is a nice big bag. I still use my diaper bag and probably will even after she is out of diapers. It just holds everything I need and I’ve come to love it! Mine actually looks like a purse so it isn’t too bad.
Speaking of diapers, bring them! I make sure to always have at least 3 in my bag along with plenty of wipes. Always look around the store when you first walk in to take notice of where the restrooms are. You never know when there will be a potty emergency!
I always bring plenty of snacks and a full sippy cup. This will usually keep her busy for about 10 min so that I can actually browse around the store. I recommend using the snack catcher so they don’t leave crumbs all around the store.
The next must have is her favorite toy. My daughter loves her little stuffed Elmo and we take it everywhere. He rides in the car and goes shopping with us.
I also make sure to bring sanitizing wipes just in case the stores don’t have them. I like wiping down the shopping cart handles and seat before I put her in, especially since it is cold and flu season!
The last must have is a change of clothes. You never know when you will have an exploding diaper or she decides to spit out her juice all over her shirt….can you tell it’s happened to me?
Since it is winter, I also like keeping an extra hat and mittens in my bag. I found an adorable set the last time we ran errands at Walmart. They have a brand of clothing for babies and toddlers called, Healthtex that are so cute and so affordable. My two favorite things!
I found her a little bunny hat and mitten set for less than $7. She has worn it several times since the weather has turned cold and she smiles every time she puts it on. I also found her two cute outfits from Healthtex as well. They were both less than $8 a piece for a 2-piece set! That is an awesome price.
My Walmart isn’t very big so I did have a hard time finding her size (24 month or 2T). They had a bunch of stuff in 6 month and 4-5T for some reason. I did see that they have a bigger selection online. What I did find, I like and they have held up very well. Even after several rounds in the washing machine.
My daughter puts her clothes through a lot of wear and tear. So I love that Walmart carries a brand that is really affordable just in case she gets stains all over them. This is a quality brand that you may not have even known Walmart carried. Hopefully, this will help you save both time and money. Something we all need!
These are just a few of my must haves for shopping with a toddler. I would love to hear what works for you and your little ones. Make sure to like us on Facebook for more parenting tips.
