My baby girl recently turned 2. I can’t believe it! She is currently obsessed with Elmo and anything Sesame Street. It was a given that I was going to throw her an Elmo birthday party. I thought I would share how we did it to get you inspired in case your little one wants an Elmo party, too.
The party was very small, only family and a couple of friends were invited. We just had it at our house and she had a blast. It isn’t easy having a party for her because it is right after Christmas and New Years Day so I am usually scrambling to get the Christmas decor put away and the party decor up.
This is not a “perfect Pinterest” party. These are just some ideas that anyone can pull together. You don’t have to be supermom, I know that I’m not! (contains affiliate links)
For the decor, I set the scene with a really cute Sesame Street backdrop. I thought this would be cute for the kids to have their picture taken in front of. My daughter was so excited when she saw it. I actually left it up in her playroom and she still goes and gives Elmo a kiss everyday. I really got my money’s worth out of it.
I was able to find some adorable Elmo plates and cups to go along with the party. She loved playing with the blowouts and kept wanting to grab them off the table. I liked that they didn’t make any noise so the kids wouldn’t be scared and the parents wouldn’t be annoyed 😉 .
We had her party around lunchtime so instead of having a bunch of little foods, we just ordered pizza. I saved a lot of money by making her cupcakes myself. I just made the icing yellow and red and used some cute Elmo cupcake toppers for decorations. We used some juice boxes for the kids to drink and just had water and tea for the adults.
As far as games went, we played Pin the Nose on Elmo. It comes with little nose stickers and my daughter liked doing this. She kept putting them in his mouth, but that’s OK. Since the kids are so little, I was just going to let them have a little play date instead of having a bunch of games structured.
I think the Elmo birthday party turned out cute and my daughter had fun. I found some other great posts that you may want to check out for even more Elmo birthday party ideas:
