My anniversary is coming up in November. It has been 11 years, I can’t believe it has been that long. This has got me thinking about ways we can save on date night without having to stay at home. Staying at home and watching a movie can be fun but when I have a date night, I want to go out on the town. I’m a work from home mom…I need to get out of this house!
There are many ways you can save and stick to a budget while enjoying a nice night out. If you are planning on going to the movies, I have a full post of ways you can save at the movies so I won’t go into detail about that here.
Daily Deal Sites
The first place I go to get date night ideas are the daily deal sites. Groupon and Living Social ( get $10 off a $20 purchase when you sign up) are the best ones. We have gotten some great deals for couples massage, concert tickets, theater tickets, and fun local activities. Not to mention all of the great restaurant deals. All of them were at least 50% off. This is also a great place to check out if you want to pamper yourself before a date and get all dolled up. They have all kinds of salon, pedicure, and makeup deals.
Restaurant.com
If you are wanting to save on going out to eat, make sure you check out Restaurant.com to see if they offer any deals for your favorite restaurants. This is a great way to try new places for really cheap prices. What I love about this site is that I usually get deals for over 50% off and they have reviews posted so you can read up on the restaurant before you buy the voucher. Make sure you read the fine print before you buy just so there are no surprises when you go to redeem it.
Discounted Gift Cards
If you don’t want to deal with coupons and looking for deals, an easy way to save some money is by buying discount gift cards. You can get them for your favorite retail store as well as restaurants. Some of them are up to 35% off! You can get them at places like Cardpool and Ebay. You can use the gift cards on top of any other promotion or coupon you may have to really save some cash.
Local Community
If you want some fun activities but don’t want to pay a lot or anything at all, you can always check out your local churches or community centers. Some have free cooking lessons, dancing lessons, concerts, movies in the park, etc. Just do a quick Google search for free activities in your area. I live in Charlotte, NC and there is a great website called, Charlotte on the Cheap that lists free weekly activities for couples and families. See if your area has something like this.
Social Media
Sign up for any email lists or social media accounts your favorite restaurants might have. They usually list promos and coupons on their accounts. The best way is to follow them on Facebook.
Season Passes
If you have any season passes to zoos, aquariums, theme parks, etc. put them to use. You probably go with the kids but you can always go when it is just the two of you and actually enjoy yourselves. I am always having to keep an eye on my active daughter and making sure she doesn’t get into anything she isn’t supposed to, that I don’t really get to take in all the things to do. So it is nice to go by yourselves every once in a while. Plus, you already paid for them!
Coffee & Dessert
If you don’t want to splurge on a dinner, just go out for coffee or dessert. It is the best part of the meal anyway! You can sit, relax, and chat. You can use your Starbucks reward card or any other reward program perks you might have.
There are just a few of the ways we have been able to go on dates for very little money. We don’t do date nights as often as we should so when we do get to have them, we like to have nice ones. This way we can have a lovely night out without feeling guilty about spending a lot. What are some ways you save on date night? What is your favorite date night spot?
