As a work from home mom, it seems that I am always on the go. I’m always running errands for my household and for my business, all with a toddler in tow. It can get a little chaotic. I pack my daughter a snack in the diaper bag and I try to remember to pack myself something as well. I am not a happy mommy when I am hungry. I tend to get angry; I get “hangry”.
I saw a cute way to reuse old milk jugs and turn them into snack boxes. This is perfect for me because my snack always tends to get lost in the huge diaper bag I have to carry around. When I am hungry, I need a snack quickly and this is a great way to keep everything together.
This is also great for kids to keep in their lunchboxes so they don’t accidentally throw away expensive containers. I literally only spent $3 to make this milk jug snack box and it was for the price of the velcro. I already had everything else in my home. You can also decorate the milk jug snack box anyway you want. Let the kids color them or use stickers to personalize them. Here is what you will need:
- clean milk jug
- marker
- scissors
- adhesive-backed velcro
- thumbtack
The first thing you are going to do is to draw the tabs around the milk jug using a marker. Then use your scissors to cut out your shape. Make sure to round the corners with your scissors so that there aren’t any sharp edges.
Then take a thumbtack and poke holes around the flaps so that they will fold in more easily. Fold them in a few times to make sure they are easy to bend. Next, stick an adhesive-backed velcro where you want it to hold in place. That’s it!
See how easy that is? I think it turned out great and it completely seals so it is even good for sandwiches and fruit. I usually pack my daughter some snack crackers and this holds them perfectly. What do I put in my milk jug snack box? I would like to say that I am healthy and put in fruit but let’s be honest, I’m a chocoholic and I do love a good candy bar.
Recently I have been snacking on SNICKERS® Bars, they are my favorite! Roasted peanuts, milk chocolate, caramel, and nougat, what’s not to love? I was able to grab a few at Walmart on my recent shopping trip, they were right at the checkout so it was hard to resist, and I noticed that the wrappers have personalities on them. I thought that was fun! I got some that said: Dramatic, Rebellious, and Goofball. They describe my little girl perfectly :).
So you now know how I keep my “hangry” self under control. SNICKERS® has a fun quiz that you can take to see who you are when you are hungry. I took the quiz and it gave me the Princess result. I’m not really sure what that means. Do I get prissy when I’m hungry? I guess I do get a little dramatic.
You can take the quiz below and let us know your result. Also, feel free to let us know how you keep your hunger under control. I’d love some fun recipes to try.

I love to upcycle things around the house and turning a milk jug into a snack holder is brilliant! Having a SNICKERS on hand is always a good thing for me! (client)
