Nothing can make your summer more stress-free and relaxing like a well stocked beach bag. I have found some beach bag essentials that will make your vacations or stay-cations so much easier. These are not only things that will make your visit to the beach much more enjoyable but also your trips to the pool. I’m not even going to list things like swimsuits, flip flops, or sunglasses because you will probably already be wearing those things. Here are my top 10 beach bag essentials that you may want to pack.
Sunscreen
This is probably the most important thing you should have in your beach bag. I’m a Ginger, I know what I am talking about when it comes to sunburn! Make sure you apply sunscreen every 2 hours or more often if you are swimming or sweating. Not only will this help prevent sunburn, but wrinkles as well! My personal favorite is the Banana Boat Sport sunscreen.
A Cute Coverup
I always carry a cute coverup or sarong in my beach bag. I love having it on hand just in case I feel like I am getting too much sun. I have a cute one I got from the Victoria’s Secret PINK collection. I love the ones that look like little beach dresses.
Waterproof Phone Pouch
I take my phone everywhere and the beach is no exception. It is great to have on hand in case of an emergency and you want to get all of those cute beach photos, too! I keep mine in a waterproof phone pouch just so the water and sand stay off.
Headphones
Sometimes you just want to jam! Bring a set of headphones so you can listen to your music on your phone or iPod. Not everyone around you will appreciate your type of music so this is a great way to be considerate of others while still getting your groove on.
A Good Book
To make your day at the beach even more relaxing, remember to bring a good book. You can bring along your Kindle to save some room in your bag. Don’t forget to check out this list of sites for free ebooks if you have one.
Sun Hat
Bring a cute sun or beach hat in your bag as well. I personally like the big floppy ones, they give the most protection. They will help keep your face out of the sun and give you a chic look as well. I also like to throw in some extra hair elastics just in case you want to pull your hair back.
SPF Chapstick
Your lips are the most sensitive skin on your body so make sure to protect them as well. Apply it just like sunscreen, every 2 hours. I like the Banana Boat Sport chapstick because it is sweat proof and has an SPF of 50!
Food Containers
There is nothing like a day of laying out at the beach that will build up your appetite. Make sure to bring some yummy snacks. I like the food containers that also have built in ice packs so that your food and sandwiches stay fresh and cold. I like bringing fresh fruit as a healthy snack.
Bottle of Water
Don’t forget to stay hydrated! I always bring a bottle of water with me to the beach. It gets hot out there. I found these cute beach drink spikes that hold your beverages so sand doesn’t get all over them. These are genius!
Beach Towel
Last, but not least, is the beach towel. You need at least one of these per person in your bag. I was sent a new Aurorae Aqua Beach Swim Towel to try out on my visits to the pool. Aurorae is a lifestyle brand that sells the best reviewed yoga mats as well as yoga, fitness, wellness and outdoor products online. You can browse their products on their online catalog here.
The Aurorae Aqua Beach Swim Towel is so soft and absorbent. It comes in eight pretty colors, I was sent the “Fiji Sunset” and I love it! The best part about this towel is how long it is. I am tall, 5′ 9″, and I can lay all the way out on this towel without my feet touching the sand! It is 32″ X 68″ so two people can sit on it very comfortably. The towel can also be rolled up and become very compact so it fits easily into your beach bag.
The Beach Swim Towel is one of the most absorbent beach towels I have had. I was almost completely dry when I used it after a swim in the pool. I have washed it a couple of times and it has held up very well. It is just as soft as when I received it. I highly recommend you add this to your beach bag list.
Aurorae is being kind enough to offer one of my readers the chance to win their own Aqua Beach Swim Towel. This is open to US residents only. Just fill out the Rafflecopter form below. Let us know what your beach bag essentials are if they were not included on this list.
