The Best Resource for Expecting Moms

July 1, 2015 by hewella1 24 Comments

When I first learned that I was expecting, I felt happy, scared, excited, overwhelmed, and lost. I think every new mom feels this way. I felt comfortable enough with my doctors to ask any and all questions about pregnancy and what I should be doing for myself and my baby. But I still had questions when I got home or things would come up and I wanted answers right then and there. I found the best resource for expecting moms when I came across the book, What to Expect When You’re Expecting.

This book helped me so much during my pregnancy, every mom-to-be should read it!

What to Expect When You’re Expecting became my pregnancy Bible and with good reason. It is recommended by moms and doctors alike. It has spent over 600 weeks on The New York Times Bestseller List. That is because it is full of so much great classic information for expecting moms like I was. I think I read this book from cover to cover. I wanted to learn as much as I could.

It is so easy to find what you are looking for in the Table of Contents so you can find the answers quickly. I love how the latest edition has a large section on “Working While Pregnant”. Most women work these days and we can’t just stop working because we are expecting. It gives some great advice for telling your boss, how to make working comfortable, and how to work safely. I worked full-time in a lab when I was pregnant so this section came in handy.

Leg cramps

I also love that the book covers a wide range of issues that you will experience while you are expecting. Things that no one really tells you about….I’m looking at you Hemorrhoids! I didn’t have a hard time with morning sickness like a lot of women do but I did have awful heartburn and leg cramps. My leg cramps were painful and would wake me up in the middle of the night. I love how What to Expect When You’re Expecting gave me tips on stretches to do when that happened. It even has drawings demonstrating the stretches!

I really like how the book is divided into sections by month. I would always read ahead a month so that I was ready for whatever came my way. The book will tell you how your baby is developing that month, what you can expect at that month’s checkup, and what you may be feeling that month. It was like a friend was anticipating my every need and worry. What to Expect When You’re Expecting really helped me during my entire pregnancy. It calmed my fears and helped me relax so that I could actually enjoy growing my beautiful baby inside of me. I highly recommend this as the best resource for expecting moms.

What to Expect

Luckily, there are other books in the What to Expect series for moms like me, who have questions once you bring the baby home. There are actually four great books available:

  • What to Expect® When You’re Expecting
  • What To Expect® the First Year
  • What to Expect® the Second Year
  • Eating Well When You’re Expecting

I am currently reading The Second Year book and it has a lot of great information. There are tips for safety, health, sleep problems, and my favorite, discipline. It is giving me some great advice and helping me feel more confident in my parenting. I don’t feel like I’m just thrown to the sharks anymore.

I get to giveaway the What to Expect Series (ARV $61.80)! That’s all four books to one very lucky reader. This giveaway is open to US residents only and you must be at least 18 years old. To enter, just fill out the Rafflecopter form below.
