Miracle DIY Carpet Cleaner Solution

July 16, 2015 by hewella1

With 2 dogs and a toddler, I have cleaned up my fair share of carpet stains. It was getting ridiculous how much I was spending on carpet cleaner. I came across a recipe for what I call a Miracle DIY Carpet Cleaner.

This recipe is all natural and it costs pennies to make. I had all of the ingredients right in my kitchen. The best part is that it got rid of my carpet stains better than the cleaner I was buying from the store!

I love using this DIY Miracle carpet cleaner to get rid of pet stains and odors. It’s the best homemade recipe I’ve found. See how to make this solution for small areas or machines. Includes before and after pictures.

The picture above was taken in my entry way. There is a lot of foot traffic going through this area and you can see the wear and dark stains in the first picture.

After I used the DIY carpet cleaner and vacuumed, the bottom picture shows what my entry way looks like now. It looks so much better!! So how do you make this miracle DIY carpet cleaner?

DIY Carpet Cleaner Solution Recipe

  • 1 Tablespoon of clear dish soap ( I used Seventh Generation)
  • 1 Tablespoon white vinegar
  • 2 Tablespoons of Hydrogen Peroxide
  • 2 cups of warm water

Combine all of the ingredients into a spray bottle and mix it around. Use right away, I don’t know how effective this will be if it sits around for a few days.

I vacuumed my carpets first then sprayed the cleaner on all of the stains and dark spots. I let it sit for a few minutes and scrubbed with a white cloth.

I let it dry and then vacuumed again and it looks fantastic. I will advise to clean a small spot first just to make sure it doesn’t do anything funky with your carpets.

I had some dog vomit stains in my bedroom, don’t ask! I tried several different cleaners and nothing seemed to work. This miracle DIY carpet cleaner got the stains out on the first try!!

Can you tell that I am in love with this stuff? You can see the results in the picture above. I took the pictures at different times of the day so the lighting is a little different but you can tell that the stains are gone!

Your carpet will smell a little like vinegar when you apply the cleaner but the smell goes away as soon as it is dry. I will be using this to clean all of my carpet stains from now on.

This will save me a lot of money on carpet cleaner!

Homemade Carpet Cleaner for Machines

I have actually used this same recipe in my carpet shampoo machine. It will depend on how big your tank is but I add the ingredients right into the water tank:

  • 1/4 cup of Hydrogen Peroxide
  • 2 Tbs. of white vinegar
  • 1 Tbs. of clear dish soap

I then just fill the tank up to the indicated line with warm water and change the machine from “Clean” to “Rinse.” It works great every single time.

Your carpet machine may be different than mine so adjust the measurements accordingly.

Let me know if this miracle DIY carpet cleaner works for you!

U have saved my carpets several times with this cleaner and u r right it works like magic.
My dog has been sick for a couple of days with diarrhea and I never found it but in the morning or after a long day.
I clean up the mess first then spray to clean even better and after that I shampoo the rug, using ur cleaner.
It’s 12:49 am where I am and all the messes r clean off the carpets and I’m ready for a bath and bed.
Thank u so much this cleaner saved me once again and my carpets look brand new 🥰

Thanks for sharing these. I really appreciate the help. I have a hard time keeping up with carpet cleaning in general and often need to use a service once a year to help with the stain removal. I’m hoping this will help me in between those cleanings.

Just wanted to add ……… straight peroxide in a spray bottle stops mold cold, even on wood !! better than cleaning vinegar even !! hope this helps !

Pls tell me what an alternative is to regular spray bottle. I would love to clean carpet regularly with this but even a 5×7 brings out tired hands and another carpet cleaning machine isn’t the answer either. I’ve thought of spray bottles like the gallon size used to kill ants around perimeter of home but that too, requires too much of the repetitive motion…. Thanks so much for your help!
