I have decided that I will do a few posts on blogging. I know that a lot of Moms, Dads, and even college students are looking for ways to earn extra income and blogging is one way to do that. This post is about how I tripled my pageviews in just 1 month!
I have been blogging for about 3 years now but I have just started treating my blog as a business. I stay at home with my daughter and this is one of the ways I am able to stay home and still make an income. I plan on doing posts like this periodically so that you can see if blogging is something that might work for you. If I can do it, anyone can!
You do not have to be tech savvy to be a blogger, I certainly am not. You can even start a blog for only $3.95 a month.
One of the ways I learned how to really make income from my blog was by taking the Elite Blog Academy course. I can’t recommend it enough. They will be open again for registration in February 2017 for EBA 3.0 so you can start saving up if you are interested in the course.
Ruth Soukup, the creator of EBA, actually has some free training videos that she is offering from EBA 2.0. You can sign up for that free training to get some great tips.
Like I said, I have been blogging as a hobby for a few years but I have only started to treat it like a business for the past 3 months. I have been posting everyday except Sundays. that is my day off. I really want to be able to make a full time income off of my blog so that I can stay home with my daughter. Blogging is something that I love to do and I love being able to set my own hours.
As a blogger, it can be very frustrating when you put all of this time and effort into your blog and you are not seeing any growth. I have been posting everyday, I put out good content ( at least I think so), and I am promoting on social media. I have seen some growth but not until I started using StumbleUpon did I see a dramatic increase in my pageviews.
I used StumbleUpon occasionally but I have put more effort into it now that I see how beneficial it can be to my blog. If you are not familiar with StumbleUpon, it is basically a social sharing site that lets you see all kinds of new websites based on your “likes” and interests. You just hit the Stumble button and it will pull up a random site that it thinks you might like. You can give sites thumbs up or down so it can learn more about you. It’s a great way to discover new websites!
Every time I post something new, I add it to my “likes”. I have their toolbar installed on my browser so it is really easy for me to do. After I “like” my own post, I will usually stumble for about 5-10 minutes and like other pages so that it is not just all of my own posts. It is a social site so make sure to follow other users. You can follow me and I will follow you back.I think this helps your “likes” get seen by others as well.
My posts had been getting a few views from StumbleUpon but then my post on Best Sites for Free eBooks got a lot of likes! It has been seen by over 18,000 people. This is big for me! You can see by the graph above that I was getting only 8,000 pageviews a month from May-June. I really started using StumbleUpon in the middle of June and you can see that my pageviews tripled to over 25,000 views from June-July
I know that for some blogs, this doesn’t seem like a lot but it is for me and I am pretty excited about it. I think increasing my pageviews has allowed me to get more sponsored posts as well. As you can see from the chart, my views are going back down to the normal range but I am hoping they will go back up again.
This is a chart that shows where all of my pageviews came from for the months of June-July. StumbleUpon is my number 1 referrer. I don’t know the secret to StumbleUpon or why that one post just took off but I ‘m glad it did. I will keep using StumbleUpon everyday and keep liking my own pages as well as others. I think that it is also good to follow at least 5-10 new people a week. It keeps you engaged and hopefully that will help increase your pageviews.
If you are looking for more ways to increase your pageviews, I highly recommend reading the book (affiliate link) Traffic Transformation by fellow blogger Lena Gott. I have read this book and it has some great tips on using Facebook, Pinterest, Google +, and StumbleUpon as well as other ways to get even more pageviews. It is well worth the price.
If you have done anything different with StumbleUpon and saw your pageviews jump, let us know what you did in the comments. I would love to learn from each other!

I’m a new follower. I’ll try this. I sometimes Stumble my own page, but then I just go somewhere else. I need to spend the time there like you say.

Thanks for reminding me of the power of StumbleUpon. When I use it I see results, now I just have to be more consistent with it!
And congratulations on the massive traffic spike!

Great idea, I haven’t really used stumbleupon before, but I am going to try it to hopefully get more views as well. 🙂 Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the article. I have used Stumble Upon a few times, but have not integrated it into my routine. I am going to try a ping up my efforts after your article. I am stopping over from #fridayblogbooster

I’m hearing a lot about StumbleUpon, but when I get there I’m just baffled as to why people like it. I may have to try it again.
