I don’t know about you, but in the summer I pretty much live in flip flops and sandals. It is probably my favorite thing about the warm weather. The winter months can be really harsh on my feet so when I am ready to get out the sandals, I really need to give my feet some TLC. Here are some tips to help get your feet summer ready.
I am not one of those people who gets a pedicure every couple of weeks. I really just don’t have the time or the money to do that. I give myself pedicures at home, mostly during my daughter’s nap time. The first thing you want to do is to soak your feet in a warm bath. This helps make the skin softer and it will be a lot easier for you to buff and remove dead skin.
Remove Dead Skin
This is a must for my feet after being in boots and sneakers for months. I usually have dry, hard skin on my heels and the sides of my toes. It’s gross, I know, but it happens to the best of us. Pumice stones really didn’t work for me so I was sent a Guiffee E-425 Pedi Perfect Electronic Pedicure Foot File and it worked so much better! The foot file comes with or without a cord but I chose the one with the cord since it is supposed to be more powerful. My feet need full power!
It was very easy to use, I just plugged it in and rubbed it back and forth on my feet and it removed all of the dead skin. It even has a little LED light so you can see the skin a lot better, I like that feature. The foot file even comes with 3 replacement files so it should last you all summer long. It’s pretty and pink and very compact. It fits right inside my bathroom drawer so I can easily get it out when I need it. It made my feet so much smoother and they look a lot better, if I say so myself.
Cuticle Cream
After you get all of the dead skin removed and you have your feet looking soft and smooth, you will want to add a cuticle cream around your nails. This will help moisten and nourish your cuticles to promote healthy nail growth. I really like the Sally Hansen Cuticle Pen because it is very easy to apply on your feet.
Lotion
The next thing you will want to do is to add some lotion to your feet. You can add body butter or something with an exfoliant but I personally use the Kerasal Foot Therapy. It really makes my feet feel smooth and it helps if you have dry or cracked feet.
Nail Polish
This is the last, and most fun, step in my get your feet ready for summer routine. I always use a base coat to prevent yellowing of the nails and then two coats of nail polish, followed by a shiny top coat to help make it last longer. The trends for Summer 2015 seem to be bright and bold colors. I personally, like the colors of the O.P.I Neon Collection.
Prevent Blisters
To keep your feet looking great, make sure that you prevent blisters. Wear flat sandals that have a good fit. I know that you will want to wear your sexy heels and wedges though. If you feel like they are starting to rub a blister, you can use something like a blister defense stick or just some small, round band-aids will do the trick too.
Those my my tricks to get your feet summer ready. I hope this helps you show off those smooth, pretty feet of yours. If you have any other tricks that you do, please share them in the comments. I would love to hear them!
