Having a toddler can be a test to your patience. One of the struggles a lot of people have is getting their toddler to eat healthy. So far my daughter has been a really good eater. I know I am very lucky to have a toddler who isn’t so picky but that can change in an instant. One day she may like something, they next she may not. If you have a picky eater, here are some tips on how to get your toddler to eat healthy.
Let Them Help in the Kitchen: A great way to make your toddler interested in food is to let them help in the kitchen. They can help pour in an ingredient or just hand it to you. Their favorite thing to do is to help mix up something ( with your help of course). This makes them feel more involved and gives them a sense of accomplishment.
Make Food Fun: You can cut up food in fun shapes with cookie cutters or arrange it as a funny face on their plate. Toddlers love visual things so they are more likely to eat the cherry tomato if it looks like the clown’s nose. You can check out Pinterest for a ton of cute ideas on how to make food into fun shapes.
Grow a Garden Together: Another way to get kids involved is by helping them plant a garden. It can be as small or as big as you want it. At this age, they can help water the plants or cover them with dirt. Once they see what all of their hard work produced, they will be more likely to eat that fruit or vegetable.
Try a New Food Once a Week: Most experts recommend that you introduce a new food once a week. It may take a few tries to get your toddler to eat it but the more they try something new, the more open they are to different options.
Healthy Snacks: An easy way to get your toddler to get their daily intake of fruits and vegetables is to offer them healthy and delicious snacks like those from Ella’s Kitchen. They offer all kinds of different options like: nutritional drinks, toddler snacks, squeezable pouches, and much more. My daughter was sent some of their products to try out and she loved them!
We were sent their smoothie snacks and she devoured all of the four different flavors. They were full of organic squished fruit so she got a lot of vitamins and minerals that her body needs. She also loved the Apple + Strawberries Nibbly Fingers as a wholesome snack. They were soft enough for her to take bites herself and my favorite part was that it doesn’t contain any refined sugar.
Fun Cookbooks: If you are looking for ideas for wholesome meals and treats for your toddler or baby, you might be interested in the fun cookbooks that Ella’s Kitchen has to offer. I was sent 3 of their books and they are full of recipes that your toddler can help you with. They have colorful pictures and tips for helping your kids eat healthier. I love these books! They have a Cook Book, Baking Book, and a First Foods Book.
