We have all been there. We look around our living room and want to breathe some life into it. It just looks so blah! You want to freshen it up, add color, make it brighter but your wallet is putting limitations on your inspirations. I’ve been there more times then I can count. But by using some money saving tips and buying a little at a time, I was able to decorate my living room. Here are some tips on how to decorate your living room on a budget.
Pillow and Slipcovers
These are great to have if you can’t afford to get new chairs, couches, or throw pillows. Just use what you already have by using a slipcover. A great place to get these are at Target. They have some really cute ones for under $100 and I’ve seen them go on clearance for a lot less.
Area Rug
This is a great way to add color and brighten up the room, especially if your carpet has seen better days. There are so many places you can find quality area rugs that are actually affordable. My favorite tip is to wait until the end of summer and get an indoor/outdoor rug. These will usually be marked down at least 50% off and you can use it in your living room.
Shop Your Home
Take a look around your other rooms, or better yet your closets and attics. You can ask friends or family if you can shop their storage too. We have all kinds of stuff that we aren’t using so this is a great way to find new use for all of our things.
Craft Stores
A lot of people don’t realize how much cute home decor are in stores like Michael’s and Hobby Lobby. They are usually a lot cheaper then what you would pay in a regular retail store. They also put out a lot of coupons for 20-40% off your entire purchase too! Check out Retailmenot.com to see if there are any available before you go shopping. You can really get creative and try some DIY projects too.
Discount Stores
The best place to shop for things like curtains, home decor, and rugs are places like TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and Home Goods. If you have an Old Time Pottery nearby, check them out too. These stores have so much cute stuff for your living room at discounted prices.
Add a Plant
You can get a house plant to add some color and brightness to your living room. Get a cute and colorful pot to put it in and double the wow factor. Plus, this will help clean out the toxins that are in the air. It’s a win-win!
Add Some Candles or Renuzit Pearl Scents
The easiest way to add some color to your home decor is to use candles. I personally like the Renuzit Pearl Scents. They come in five different scents and colors. They are very pretty sitting on your side tables. I especially love the tops and how modern they look. They go perfectly with my decor and the scent lasts a very long time.
I was sent the Blue Sky Breeze scent to try and it smelled very wonderful and floral. I will get a whiff of it every now and then and it is very relaxing; I like that it isn’t overpowering because that can be too much. I think it helps get rid of any odors in my living room. My favorite part is how affordable they are. I’ve seen them in the stores for under $4 so you can get several to help change up the look in your living room and help it smell fresher. They are a lot safer then candles too.
I hope some of these tips will help you create a beautiful living room while saving a ton of money. If you have any other tips please let me know in the comments. If you want some more ideas you can check out this book I came across.
I also have 2 coupons to give away to my readers so they can start decorating with their own Renuzit Pearl Scents. This is open to US residents only. Just fill out the Rafflecopter form below.
