I was able to review the new book “The Power of the Heart” by Baptist De Pape. I read the concept of the book and I really thought that it sounded interesting and like something that I might enjoy. Here is a little bit about the book:

The Power of the Heart shows how you can overcome limitations in your daily life to find your true potential – and reveals the heart to be a source of love and wisdom that far surpasses that of the mind. There are many different ways to connect with your heart’s power and intelligence. The book explains how to listen to your heart’s voice and hear its wisdom. It also explains ways in which you can develop your intuition, create synchronicity, clarify your intentions, and exercise the power of gratitude. All of these – intuition, intention, gratitude, and synchronicity – are also powers of the heart.

It is more of a spiritual book which is not something that I normally read but I was interested in it none the less. I was pleased to find that it was a very easy read. I could finish a chapter before bed, even with an 8 month old to take care of. The book is full of inspiring quotes from some very famous thinkers like Maya Angelou, Deepak Chopra, Isabel Allende, Jane Goodall, and many more. The book has some of the most beautiful pictures that really help to calm you.

I loved the quotes and the Contemplation exercises that followed each chapter. They really make you stop and think. I would take some time and “meditate” or try to quiet my mind while I would go on my daily walks. It wasn’t easy to do with everything that I needed to do running through my thoughts but each day it got a little easier and soon I was just listening to the birds and my daughter making noises in her stroller and I found it to be very soothing. I may not have come across any great ideas or epiphanies but I did get a little stress relief.

I found that the overall theme to the book was simply to take some quite time for yourself everyday and try to listen to what your heart is telling you to do. If you do that then you will be much more happy and content in your life. The heart knows what we truly want out of life and if we can stop to listen to it then maybe we will find and achieve what we truly want. That is what I got out of it anyway :).

The Power of the Heart comes out on October 7th and you can preorder it here.
