As I have discussed, I’m trying to get back in shape this year. One of my favorite ways to work out is in the comfort of my own home. I use workout DVDs to keep me motivated and on track. I was so excited to try Gaiam’s latest workout video: Jessica Smith’s 10 Pounds Down! I love trying new exercises to keep different muscles working and I knew this would add some new variety to some of the videos I already use.
I have been using Jessica Smith’s 10 Pounds Down for about 2 weeks now. I think this is a perfect video for beginners who want to ease their way into it. There are 3 different workouts on the DVD: one for arms, legs, and abs. Each workout is only 20 min. so this is great if you are short on time. There is no excuse not to do at least one workout a day.
I love Jessica Smith, she seems to have a great personality and doesn’t yell at you through the TV. She just reminds you to do what you can and not to push yourself past your limit. I really felt some burn when I was finished with each workout. There are little cardio intervals in between the strength training moves but nothing that isn’t doable. She starts you off at a beginner level for each move then works up to intermediate, and then advanced. You just stay at the level you are comfortable with and then move up as you build your muscles.
Like I said, you will definitely feel your muscles burn and just when you think you can’t do anymore, the workout is over. I tried to do at least 2 workouts a day but sometimes I only had time for one. I’m starting to notice a real difference in my arms. I think my legs are toning up a little bit too. I still need to keep up with the abs workout though :). I would recommend this workout to beginners and intermediate levels. I don’t think it will be all that challenging to advanced exercisers but you could always use heavier weights.
Thanks to Gaiam for letting me review the video. You can go here to check it out for yourself and to see all of the other fitness videos they offer as well.
