I love books! I always have, even when I was a baby. I am so happy that my daughter shares my love for books. She can’t read yet but she loves to just sit and flip through her books looking at all the pictures. I read to her daily and I was so glad I came across Candlewick Press because they have some amazing books that are perfect for her age. We were sent a few books to read and Aria just loved them!

Is Growing Your Own Garden Worth It?

Growing Your Own Garden

Is growing your own garden worth it? This is a question that has been in my home for the past couple of years now. The answer will vary from person to person but my answer is YES! I truly believe that growing my own fruits and vegetables is not only worth my time and money financially but also physically and emotionally. I have been growing my own vegetable garden in my backyard for a couple of years now. It is not very big but it provides my family with fresh produce throughout the growing season and even through the winter because I freeze everything that we don’t eat right away.

When you first start your own garden there will be costs. When I started I had to buy wood to build my garden bed, soil, compost, tomato cages, netting ( to keep the birds out), and the plants. As far as the plants went, I tried bell peppers, jalapenos, onions, and potatoes. My grand total was probably between $100-150. I already had bought gardening tools the year before when they were on clearance, so I didn’t have to worry about those. This may sound like a lot but for the next year I only had to buy new plants and compost. So the most you will pay out of pocket will be when you first get started. This year I only paid $38 for some compost, 8 plants, another tomato cage, and organic fertilizer.

Yummy & Healthy Toddler Food from Earth’s Best Organic #Giveaway

Disclosure: “I received products from Earth’s Best to facilitate my review. All opinions are my own.”

When you have a toddler, meal time can be a bit tricky. Sometimes my daughter has a big appetite, other times she will only take a few bites. I have been pretty lucky with my little girl. She is a good eater and isn’t too picky. She tries whatever I give her but sometimes I don’t think she eats enough at meal time. That is why when she does eat, I want it to be healthy and nutritious so she gets the vitamins and minerals she needs to grow healthy and strong. Earth’s Best sent me some of their new products to try that are made for toddlers. I thought they only made baby products, but I was wrong. They have a lot of options for parents of toddlers who still want to feed their little ones the best.

All Natural Fruit and Vegetable Wash

all natural fruit and vegetable wash

It’s that time of year! It’s time for fresh fruits and vegetables!! There is nothing better then biting into a fresh piece of fruit and enjoying the spring weather. I have been noticing a lot of sales that are going on in the produce section of the grocery stores. Most of the great prices are on the non-organic products instead of the organic, go figure. It can be expensive to eat all organic even though we know it is better for us. I try my best to follow the “Dirty Dozen” list of fruits and veggies to eat organic so I can save some money. But that doesn’t always work out. You can check out my post on How to Eat Healthy on a Budget  and part 2 for more tips.

I have discovered an all natural fruit and vegetable wash recipe courtesy of the Dr. Oz website and I have been using it on all of my produce. This is a great option if you can’t afford to eat all organic. This wash consists of things that you probably already have in your pantry so it is very cost effective and a much better alternative to buying fruit and vegetable washes from the stores. This particular wash works to break down and wash off the pesticides. [Read more...]

As a mom of a 15 month old, I go through my fair share of dirty diapers. I do everything I can to save money on diapers. I actually wrote about my tips and tricks for saving money on diapers that you can check out. I know that every penny counts so I am so excited that Luvs is going to be releasing a new $3.00 coupon good on any two boxes of diapers!

This new coupon will be in the upcoming Sunday paper on April 12th, 2015. You may want to grab a couple copies of the paper that week. When you pair this coupon with a sale you can really score a great deal on boxes of diapers. I use Luvs on my daughter all the time. I love that they are affordable and they don’t leak ( which is the most important thing). Luvs with NightLock, the official diaper of experienced moms, helps to lock away wetness, even overnight, with their largest absorbency area ever.

Have your Laundry Smell Like Spring with Purex Crystals ScentSplash #Giveaway

Disclosure: “I received product from Purex to facilitate my reviews. All opinions are my own.”

I love that the weather is getting warmer and spring is here! I also love the smell of freshly hung laundry but since I don’t have a clothes line, I have found the next best thing; the new Purex Crystals ScentSplash. This is very similar to the Purex Crystals that I already use but it is now in liquid form and a lot easier to use in my opinion. I have accidentally spilled the crystals all over my laundry room before…opps!
