How to Save Money on Diapers

diapers

Did you know that in your baby’s first year you will change on average over 3,000 diapers! That is a lot of dirty diapers! Not to mention a lot of money that is being spent as well. This is one of the reasons people choose to use cloth diapers but I personally don’t have the time or patience to deal with cloth diapers. If you do then more power to you but that is just not what works in my house. During my daughter’s first year, I have gotten pretty good at finding some great diaper deals and I would like to share my tips on how to save money on diapers.

Coupons

An oldie but goodie. Coupons can really help save money especially when paired with a sale. They are usually around $2-$3 off each pack. You can find coupons in the newspaper, coupons.com, or your favorite brand’s website. A few are:

If you can’t find coupons for your favorite brand, you can call or email the company and see if they can tell you where to find some. They might even send you some in the mail!

Store Deals

My favorite stores to shop for diapers are Target and CVS. They usually have the best sales!

TARGET: When you sign up for a Target Baby Registry, you will usually receive Target baby store coupon booklets every few months and there are some great diaper coupons in there. You can also check out the Target website for more Target store coupons and sign up for their mobile coupons you will receive through text. To sign up for the Target baby mobile coupons text BABY4 to 827438. Also make sure to download the Target Cartwheel app to your smartphone. You can get this through iTunes or Google Play and it is absolutely free. They offer a percentage off of select items and they change routinely. They even have a Baby section for money off diapers, wipes, baby food, and much more. Plus, if you use your Target Redcard to pay then you will save an extra 5% off your purchase. You can sign up to get one of these at the register or customer service.

At Target you can use a manufacturer coupon, Target store coupon, mobile coupon, and a Target Cartwheel offer all on one item! So you can really stack your savings. Not to mention they will have Target Gift card offers on diaper purchases as well. Just the other week they offered a $10 Target gift card when you purchased two boxes of select diapers. When you combine the coupons and gift card offers you can really get some great deals on diapers. You just have to check the weekly ad every week to see what they are offering.

CVS: I love shopping at CVS for diapers because I usually have some ECBs that I can always roll over. They will also offer an ECB deal on brand name diapers too. They usually have spend $30 on select diapers and get $5 ECBs back to use on your next purchase. Make sure you sign up for the CVS emails to get money saving coupons too. I usually get $5 off a $15 purchase coupon every week and I just send it to my card to use on my next visit. Keep in mind that you can use a manufacturer coupon, a CVS store coupon, and a money off total purchase coupon all together. Use all of these in addition to the ECB deals and the ECBs you might already have from previous visits and you can get super cheap or even free diapers! One time I bought 4 packs of Huggies diapers and only paid $1.07 out of pocket. Can’t beat that!

Amazon Mom

If you don’t want to keep up with weekly sales and coupons, Amazon Mom might be the best option for you. It’s not just for Moms. Dads and other caregivers can use it too. Amazon Mom is a subscription service that costs $99 per year but you can try it out for free for 30 days to see if it is for you. With Amazon Mom you get:

  • Free 2-day shipping

They offer great prices not only on diapers but wipes and all kinds of baby products. Amazon does offer some of the cheapest diaper prices online so this might be the easiest way to save on diapers and wipes for your family.

Reward Programs

If you buy Pampers or Huggies diapers or wipes, make sure you sign up for their reward programs:

Pampers Gifts To Grow  (you’ll receive 100 points when you sign up)

Huggies Rewards

Each package of diapers and wipes comes with a code inside. Just enter the codes on the website to earn points. You can redeem the points for free diapers, magazines, photo gifts, gift cards, and much more. Tjis is a very easy way to get free stuff for things you buy anyway. If you have friends with babies that aren’t using their codes, ask if they will give them to you. You will have your rewards in no time.

Giveaways

You know I love entering blog giveaways. I have actually won free diapers before. I’ve won actual packages sent to my home and coupons for free packs of diapers. They are usually sponsored by Huggies, Pampers, or Luvs. If you want to enter just Google “diaper giveaways”, “Huggies giveaways”, etc. They aren’t offered all the time and you are not guaranteed to win but it is always worth a try. It never takes me more then a minute to enter each one but be sure to read the directions and do the required entries.

Stock Up

By watching sales and coupons, I’ve learned what a good stock up price is. If you do it by cost per diaper, it will vary by sizes because you get more Newborn diapers per pack then you will a size 3. I go by cost per pack. If I can get a pack of diapers for under $3.50 that is a stock up price for me. If it is a box of diapers I try to shoot for under $13. This will vary by region and what stores you have available but this is what I strive for.

If you stock up on too much of one size and your baby out grows them, most stores will let you exchange for another size even without a receipt. I had to do this a couple of times. My tip is to not buy a whole lot of newborn sizes. My baby has stayed in size 3 the longest. Just keep an eye on how fast your baby is growing and use your best guess on what size to stock up on.

Brand Loyalty

I personally don’t care what brand of diapers my baby wears. We have tried all kinds to see what works best and to make sure she didn’t have a reaction to any of them. I found that in her first 6 months, we had to use brand names a lot or they would leak, especially at night. Then we saw that we could use a cheaper brand like Luvs or store brand diapers during the day but we had to use a higher quality diaper like Huggies at night. This has helped us save because we are using more of the less expensive diapers overall. This will depend on your baby and what you feel comfortable using.

These are my best tips for how to save money on diapers. I hope they help you and your family. If you have any suggestions, please leave a comment below. If you are currently expecting, do NOT forget to register for diapers from size Newborn-a size 3. You will be so glad you did!

Copycat Chick-fil-a Chicken Salad Recipe

copycat Chic-fil-a Chicken Salad

I love Chick-fil-a! I think I am borderline addicted. I usually order the regular chicken sandwich but during the summer, I want something light and fresh so I will get the chicken salad sandwich. It is so good but it can get rather expensive. So I scoured the internet and found a recipe that is very very close to the real thing. I really can’t tell the difference and there are only a few ingredients. This is going to save me a fortune! I plan on making this whenever I have some cooked chicken that needs to be used up so it won’t go to waste. Try out the copycat Chick-fil-a Chicken Salad recipe below and see what you think.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups cooked chicken breasts
  • 1/3 cup diced celery
  • 1 minced hard boiled egg
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. sugar
  • 1/3 cup sweet pickle relish
  • 1 cup of mayonnaise
  1. Cut the cooked chicken into tiny pieces and place in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add all the other ingredients and mix well.
  3. If you want to make a sandwich like I did below. Butter one side of each piece of bread and grill until lightly toasted. Add chicken salad and a piece of lettuce and enjoy!

chicken salad sandwich

The first time I had the chicken salad, I made the sandwich above and it was so yummy! The next time I had it, I used Saltine crackers to scoop up the salad and just ate it like that. Either way was delicious. Try it for yourself, you will not regret it. I have a feeling I will be making a lot of this in the summer.

My daughter just turned 1 so I have a little time to prepare myself for the dreaded potty training that is in our future, I am so ready to get her out of diapers and saving the money that goes with it. Diapers cost a small fortune! I’ve never done anything like this before (potty training the dog doesn’t count) so I am a bit nervous about what to expect and I don’t have a clue about even where to start! That is where Pull-Ups® training pants and Pull-Ups® Big Kid Academy come in.

I have become a HUGE fan of the Pull-Ups® Big Kid Academy. They have so many great resources for parents like tips and advice from experts and fun activities to do with your potty training toddler. When you sign up, you will get a personalized  page customized to your point in the potty training journey. We are at the “Getting Ready” stage so I can start preparing myself for what is to come and try to figure out what will work best for my daughter.

In addition to the Pull-Ups® Big Kid Academy, you can also use the nifty little Time To Potty App. This is a great tool to help you build a consistent routine. Let’s be honest, if you have a toddler then you probably forget a lot of things because your mind is in a million different places. This app helps with a smart potty timer that helps your child (and you) learn to take regular potty breaks. It also has games and tools that you can access  when you are on-the-go.

To help get you started, Pull-Ups® is offering a printable coupon for $2 off your next purchase. If you share the coupon via Facebook, Twitter, or email the savings will jump to $3 off your purchase of Pull-Ups®. You could score some sweet deals if you pair this with any upcoming sales. I personally will be printing this and stocking up for the near future.

I think that Pull-Ups® training pants will really help my daughter. They will make it easy for her to learn how to take them off and pull back up all by herself and the easy-open sides make it easy for me to check for any accidents. Pull-Ups® training pants come in a variety of styles to fit your toddler, all in fun Disney prints they will love. You can choose from:

I plan on using all of the tools and resources that Pull-Ups® has to offer. I think they will make this new adventure a lot easier for the both of us. I think this is great for new parents and I am so glad that they are making this available. Not to mention the amazing high value coupon. Don’t forget to print yours while it is still available. Let me know any advice you have on potty training. I am open to suggestions!

Top 3 Cash Back Sites Every Online Shopper Should Use

Untitled

I do a lot of online shopping. Who doesn’t love shopping in your P.J.’s and not having to leave the house? There are so many deals to be found too. I also love the fact that I can earn extra money back on all of my purchases. I shop through various sites and get a percentage of my purchase added to my account and I simply cash out when I reach a certain amount. The sites get a commission when you make a purchase through their links and can offer you cash back as an incentive for using their links.

You do need to check out each site when you are shopping to see which one is offering the highest percentage for the particular store you are buying from. Sometimes the cash back sites will offer double or even triple cash back during different times so keep an eye out for that too. Here are the top 3 cash back sites every online shopper should use. They are my personal favorite cash back sites that I use frequently.

Ebates: This is the site I use the most. It’s very easy to use and they usually have the highest cash back. You can be paid via a check or Paypal.I think you can cash out once you reach $5. They also offer coupons and exclusive deals.

Shop At Home: This is very similar to Ebates but you need a minimum of $20.00 to be sent payment. They also offer a Shop Gold Rewards Program that is free to sign up. You can get points for taking surveys, playing games, printing coupons, getting samples, and so much more! You can then redeem these points for gift cards to your favorite store. If you sign up through my link, you will get 100 free reward points. That is the same as a $5 gift card!

Fat Wallet: They offer many stores for cash back and you need a minimum of $10 to cash out via check or Paypal. My favorite thing about Fat Wallet is they showcase the top deals of the day from a variety of stores. They also offer double cash back on a new store everyday. I also love the forums that people can post in and let others know of the great deals they have found online.

These are my favorite 3 sites out off  all the cash back sites I have come across. If you shop online, you should be using at least one of these sites. They are free and you get money for doing something you are going to do anyway…shop! When you add these savings to coupon codes and sales you can really get some great discounts online.

Three Cheese Ranch Chicken Recipe

three cheese ranch chicken

I was looking for something quick and easy to make for dinner the other night and I came across two recipes that looked good but couldn’t decide between the two. So, I had a genius idea, why don’t I just combine them? It turned out to be a very good idea (I do have them every now and again). This was even good as leftovers the next day and you probably already have all of the ingredients in your pantry. I give you my Three Cheese Ranch Chicken Recipe.

Ingredients

  • Package of ranch dressing mix
  • 1 cup of plain breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 Tbs. Italian Seasoning
  • 1/2 cup Mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup Cheddar Cheese
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 3-4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  1. Spray a 9×13  baking dish with cooking spray and pre-heat oven to 375°F
  2. Add all the seasonings and cheese to a large plastic bag and mix.
  3. Dip the chicken into the melted butter and then place in the plastic bag to coat in the seasoning mix and place in the baking dish once coated.
  4. I had a hard time getting the cheese to stick to the chicken so I poured the remaining cheese and seasonings in the bag directly over the tops of the chicken.
  5. Bake for 30-40 min. or until chicken is cooked through.

This made for a very quick and easy weeknight meal. Enjoy!
